WordSea - A tool by Buenaescuela
WordSea is a teacher-created educational tool designed to help educators build engaging classroom activities from videos and transcripts.
Teachers play a YouTube video on the projector while students on their devices see the transcript or lyrics with certain words replaced by blank fields. Students type the missing words in real time as the video plays, building vocabulary and listening comprehension through authentic media. Perfect for language learning, ESOL, social studies, and any subject using video-based learning.
- Listening comprehension with authentic audio and video across any subject
- Vocabulary practice in context through interactive fill-in-the-blank activities
- Reading along with synced captions and transcripts in multiple languages
- Formative assessment through live teacher dashboard and real-time student feedback
- Engaging classroom activities for language learning, ESOL, social studies, and more

WordSea was born out of frustration. The most powerful tool for language acquisition — authentic music, film, and media in the target language — has always been locked behind paywalls, buried in ads, or stripped of the context that makes it meaningful in the first place.
I built WordSea because I believe language learning should feel like an experience, not a worksheet. When students encounter Spanish through a song they actually like — pausing to wrestle with a word, hearing it in context, connecting it to something real — that's when acquisition happens. That's the moment this tool is designed to create.
My vision is a classroom where the teacher isn't just an instructor but a guide into an immersive world — where the target language isn't a subject to be studied but a living thing students can touch, hear, and feel. WordSea is my small contribution toward that classroom.
